Yoga Dreams

Collaboration with HIMA Happiness

I promised something exciting was coming, so here it is. I'm about to start HIMA Happiness' HIMA Seasons yoga teacher training, and in about a year, I'll be a yoga teacher! I've been thinking for a long time how great it would be to get a proper yoga teacher training, after all I have practiced yoga for over 20 years and taught it too occasionally. I feel like this is a perfect time for me to teach yoga. I can do it while working on my dissertation and on parental leave. I can also do it in the future in different life situations. I'm really excited about the content of the course too, I think it's super interesting to study stuff like anatomy. We were given preliminary assignments for anatomy and I was so excited that I did them all on the same day.

We have agreed on a collaboration with HIMA Happiness, where I'll write about the teacher training 1-2 times a month. I think it should be really interesting to read about everything that's included in the year's training, especially if you have ever thought about participating in yoga teacher training yourself. The training has one intensive training weekend per month on 10 of the 12 months and the first one is already at the end of April, so you won't have to wait for long. In just a few weeks, I'll be writing about my first feelings about our group and the course ☺️.

Since I am pregnant and will have a baby during the training, I had to think carefully about whether this is the right time and how I will organize everything so that I can be 100% involved in the training. We talked with Eerikki and we came to the conclusion that as a team we can make it possible. I also feel that career-wise now is the perfect time for this. After all with each pregnancy and parental leave, the completion of my dissertation gets postponed a bit further and I have been thinking how great it would be to do things now that I might not have as much time for when I graduate and start working in my own field. Working as a part-time yoga teacher means the realization of one big dream for me.

I really wanted to do HIMA Happiness' training, because first of all, it qualifies for RYT 200 registration, which is the only internationally recognized yoga teacher program. It means that only a registered instructor who has completed RYT200 can call themself a registered yoga instructor. We have been thinking about moving abroad for a couple of years at some point so an international certificate is a smart choice in that sense as well. The school itself seems warm and professional, and when I talked with Laura, the director of education, about cooperation I got a really good feeling and I immediately decided that this is the right school for me.

HIMA's guiding principle is that an individual's well-being reflects positively on the people around them and the world as a whole, and thus at best can create a positive snowball effect. I fully subscribe to this philosophy, I think so myself. Yoga teachers have been trained at HIMA since 2012 and they have received very good feedback throughout the years. I feel confident in my choice when I know that the school has been so well liked and they have experience in teacher training for over ten years. A lot of praise has gone to the experienced and well-loved staff of trainers, which I will tell you more about later.

So more yoga posts coming soon as soon as the intensive training weekend starts 💕.
